If a company defines itself as a money making machine, on the very short term… where employees are finally commodities, like chains of production, like et caetera, like products you sell, no. It will use human material, it will buy human material, it will sell human material, it will buy human material again. If a company defines itself as something which… as an ecosystem which wants to last, it will certainly take care of what makes it up, therefore of human beings.
Even if we weren’t in the information society, it is really… it already existed hundred years ago, an organization which wants to last will take care of people who are inside the organization. Education is a way to care about people, to give them more means, more capabilities, so, yes, organizations have a role to play. Education doesn’t stop when you are 19 or 21, it is not parents’ or high schools’ responsibility, it is under the responsibility of a whole community, of any organism which manages a community. Now, should we always depend on someone to educate oneself, to make progress, I don’t think so. Should I wait for may parents to tell me “you will study”, should I wait for high school to tell me “you will study this domain”, it will be the very French way “you study marketing, so you will learn all this, you study engineering, so you will learn all that”… should I wait for that? Should we wait for the company to tell us “so, you have your ten days of training every year, so you will do this, this and that”? No, I don’t agree with that.
