Inspiration! Get them in touch in an inspirational way, That works. It works best, get them to… all directors went to Google last year, of the company I worked for. It’s just a couple of months ago, two or three months ago. So they went to San Francisco to the Google headquarters and they came back. And they came back with, they were vibrant, and they had all these ideas of which 80 to 90% were things that I would love to bring in practice as well, so I said okay, this really worked. I could have told all of this, but nobody would have listened. But send them out to Google San Francisco and it’s… well, basically a bunch of people similar to us, they were telling those stories of the things they are doing at Google, and how they do them and how they perceive them. And all of a sudden, they became real life ideas that are now slowly also… well, running through our organizations, and, well, those are good ideas. No all of them, of course, all of a sudden we needed to have mobile versions of our websites and all that kind of stuff, because according to Google everybody’s going mobile, which is probably the case in about ten years from now, but that’s… But on the other side they are thinking involving customers, they are thinking about communities, and they are thinking about proto and pretotyping services, and thinking about continuous innovation; which are all good things if they are on the agenda of the top 60 of your organization, so that’s good stuff. And not everything will happen, and not everything will go as quickly as we want but at least they’re topics that are on the agenda somewhere, and people have become enthusiastic about it.
Which is good. So as I think those kinds of things work, it’s the… it’s a TedX kind of short presentations: bring your idea down to this, what’s it, 12 minutes, 18 minutes I don’t know. And stories that get people, that pick people up in their guts, that they feel “okay now this is amazing, this is something I can work with as well”. That’s just the stuff that inspires you and the stuff that inspires me and others. And we need to broaden that.
